Egypt's public prosecutor ordered Wednesday the release of 113 people detained since Monday when the army and police forces forcibly dispersed a three-week Tahrir Square sit-in. The detainees denied charges of rioting, hindering traffic and thuggery, judicial sources told Al-Masry Al-Youm. Egypt's military prosecution had referred the detainees to the public prosecution which, after five hours of interrogations, decided to release them. The Tahrir sit-in began on 8 July, when political groups and the families of revolution martyrs staged a mass protest to pressure the government to bring those accused of killing protesters to trial.
