The National Association for Change (NAC) has announced the opening of a new branch in Canada. The branch is co-established with other Egyptian organizations such as Egyptian Canadians for Democracy and The Egyptian Canadian Foundation for Human Rights. In a phone call, Sherif Moahmed Kamel, one of the branch founders, told Al-Masry Al-Youm that deteriorating conditions in Egypt can only be denied by hypocrites. In related news, the Coalition of Egyptian Organizations in North America has announced the passing of a deadline it had given to the Egyptian ministers of interior and foreign affairs to allow Egyptian expats to vote in the upcoming elections. The coalition issued a statement urging Egyptians in the US to authorize Yehya el-Gamal, a jurist and professor of constitutional law, to go ahead with legal proceedings demanding their right to vote. The coalition wants this authorization to be approved by the Egyptian consulate or embassy. Chairman of the coalition Mahmoud el-Shazly invited those who do not posses voting certificates to register themselves as voters. Former vice president of Egypt's Court of Cassation Mahmoud el-Khodeiry declared that litigation procedures will begin, with the aim of securing voting rights for Egyptians abroad.
