Gamal Mubarak ''our nominee for president,'' says campaign coordinator
Published in Almasry Alyoum on 23 - 11 - 2010

On the first page of its latest newsletter, the popular campaign in support of a presidential bid by Gamal Mubarak--son of President Hosni Mubarak--ran an article confirming its plan to nominate the younger Mubarak to stand in next year's presidential election.
In the article, campaign coordinator Magdi al-Kordy also accused Ali Eddin Helal, media secretary for the ruling National Democratic Party (NDP), of working against the campaign in Washington.
Al-Kordy went on to blame Helal for Egypt's failed bid to host the 2010 World Football Cup. The minister, he wrote, had squandered some LE300 million on promoting Egypt for the event--a sum, he noted, that could have been used to create employment opportunities for thousands of citizens.
Al-Kordy also criticized NDP Youth Secretary Mohamed Heba for referring to him and other campaign members as “hypocrites,” saying the only way to respond to such provocation was by continuing to support Gamal Mubarak, who, he asserted, enjoyed "significant popularity" on the Egyptian street.
