Gamal Mubarak denies affiliation to campaigns supporting his presidential bid
Published in Almasry Alyoum on 11 - 11 - 2010

Head of the National Democratic Party (NDP) Policies Committee, Gamal Mubark, denied affiliation to any campaign supporting his 2011 presidential bid.
Campaign posters, hung by the independent group The Popular Campaign for Supporting Gamal Mubarak for President, have spread recently throughout Cairo.
Neither Gamal Mubarak, nor his father, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, have announced whether they will vie for the presidency.
NDP leader Ali Eddin Helal in October said Mubarak will be the party's presidential candidate for the 2011 elections. Mohamed Kamal, NDP Education and Training Secretary, however, refrained from dismissing a Gamal Mubarak presidential bid.
In an interview with al-Arabiya TV station, the younger Mubarak said presidential candidacy selection follows an established protocal. The party's endorsement will be announced in due time, he added.
A similar protocal applies to parliamentary nominations, the 46-year-old said.
“We recently issued a detailed document of accomplishments in all fields,” Gamal said in reference to 2005 presidential platform accomplishments.
State economic policies have prioritized fighting poverty, Gamal said, adding, however, that the NDP never pledged to completely eradicate impoverishment.
The poorest Egyptian demographics will continue to be targeted through ration card provisions, raising salaries, and health insurance reform, Gamal said.
The president's son said economic progress, however, has been hindered by the global financial crisis.
