Supreme State Security prosecution has accused MPs from the Muslim Brotherhood of "using appearances on television talk shows to defend members of the Brotherhood who were arrested two days ago," according to a recently leaked security memo. The memo accused MPs belonging to "the parliamentary bloc of the Muslim Brotherhood" of using their connections with talk shows on independent TV channels and one famous Arab satellite channel to "criticize the Egyptian regime." The memo alleged that the Brotherhood's media campaign sought to portray the Egyptian government's clampdown on the Islamic movement as "prompted by foreign power," a move that the memo described as "inciting people to hate and disrespect the state." Abdel Monem Abdel Maqsoud, a lawyer for the Brotherhood, told Al-Masry Al-Youm that the prosecution has not filed charges against any of the People's Assembly members whose names are mentioned in the investigation memo.
