A number of Bar Association board members and other lawyers asked Hamdi Khalifa, the Chairman of the Bar Association, to investigate with Sameh Ashour, the former Chairman, for attempting to tarnish Egypt's reputation at the elections of the Permanent Bureau of the Arab Lawyers Union that were held in Morocco. The lawyers said in their request that they saw Ashour and his supporters in Morocco saying to the Arab Lawyers Union that the current board headed by Khalifa is void and not entitled to deliver Egypt's speech. At the same time, the Unrestricted Lawyers Movement yesterday held a vigil because its chairman Magdy Abdel Halim was beaten during his participation in the elections in Morocco, while the Bar Association board does not do anything to protect lawyers. Former Bar Association Chairman Sameh Ashour told Al-Masry Al-Youm that the past few days proved the allegations false, pointing out that those who made such request were the group that did not win the Arab Lawyers Union elections.
