Cairo – Dr. Ahmed El-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, said that the Islamic Sunni institution is ready to train French imams of mosques on how to positively integrate into the society and face current challenges. El-Tayeb made his remarks on Sunday, when he received Stephane Romatet, new French ambassador in Cairo. The Grand Imam stressed that all parties should cooperate to counter extremist thoughts and exert further efforts to raise awareness of young people about the dangers of extremism and terrorism. El-Tayeb added that Al-Azhar earnestly seeks to communicate with all culture and civilizations to bring about peace and spread the values of dialogue and coexistence, noting that the Islamic institution has a French council in France to teach French language for students. Romatet expressed appreciation for El-Tayeb's efforts to spread moderate Islam and the culture of peace, tolerance and acceptance of others. The French ambassador added that his country wants to cement cooperation with Al-Azhar in all scientific fields to counter extremism and terrorism.
