Chinese president calls on all countries to unite in fight against cybercrime
Published in Albawaba on 16 - 12 - 2015

Safe Internet is in everyone's interests, and all countries should fight together against cybercrime like industrial espionage and hacker attacks at governments of other states, Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Wednesday.
"We should not allow cyberspace to become the new arena of confrontation between countries. Even more, we should not allow cyberspace to become the new source of crimes," Xi told the 2nd World Internet Conference underway in China's Wuzhen. "Countries should prevent and fight together against crimes in cyberspace, such as terrorist attacks, pornography, drug dealing, gambling. We should fight against industrial espionage, hacker attacks against governments of other countries," he added.
China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi told TASS that the Chinese government attaches great importance to strengthening cooperation with Russia in the sphere of Internet.
"Cooperation with Russia in the sphere of Internet is very important for us," the foreign minister said while attending the 2nd World Internet Conference underway in Wuzhen.
He expressed hope that the conference will help peacefully develop the cyberspace. "This is a very important conference as the Internet is rapidly developing. The number of Internet users has already exceeded 700 million people in China only. This is a large number, and the Internet is also rapidly developing in Russia. Russia is a large Internet power," Wang Yi noted.
However, there are no common rules of regulating the Internet in the world, he added. "We hope that relevant agreements will be made in the framework of the conference," the minister stressed.
