Prime Minister, Sherif Ismail met Tuesday with Chief Executive Officer of Schneider Electric, which is a global specialist in energy sector, Al Bawaba News reported. Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, and governor of South Sinai attended the meeting. Spokesman of the Prime Ministry, Ambassador Hossam Al Qawesh, said that Ismail expressed his appreciation for the company's role in supporting the development efforts undertaken by the Egyptian government, especially in the electricity sector. The prime minister pointed out that there are great business opportunities for the company in the national electricity grid development sector. Ismail added that the government is working to convert Sharm El Sheikh into a green city that is friendly to the environment, including the electricity sector. He explained that later on this project would be applied to other governorates, adding that Egypt is a big market, especially with the implementation of several major national projects, such as the development of the Suez Canal axis. Furthermore, he stressed that there is a plenty of room for cooperation with the company is such projects. For his part, Schneider's CEO stressed the importance of faith in the company's investments in Egypt, which pushed them to continuing to work through difficult times in the past years. The company's CEO confirmed that the company is looking to pump more investments in new projects in Egypt, adding that it has a proposal for the implementation of solar power plant with a capacity of 50 megawatts in southern Sinai. He explained that the company will cooperate as an expert technician and implement the project with the Ministry of Electricity in southern Sinai. He pointed out that he has been studying the project, which will contribute to raising the national electricity grid efficiency.
