Wilayat Sinai (Sinai Province) said the large numbers of foreign members, that joined the militant group during the last three months are mostly from Sudan, adding that most of the group's leaders come from Sharqia and Ismailia provinces, according to sources. The Islamic State (IS) stipulated that the leader of a local group must be a foreigner to accept the members' allegiance and provide them with money, weapons and training within Syrian territories. The group affirmed that the Egyptian air strikes did not affect its presence in North Sinai as it continuously recruits young locals who have been evacuated from Rafah by the army, in order to establish the 5km buffer zone on the Egyptian-Palestinian border. Sources revealed that the group no longer controls its media releases or statements, confirming that they all come from IS-linked Al-Raqqah Media Center (RMC), which provided the Sinai group with advanced cameras. The group sends the filmed material to Syria based RMC on regular bases to be promoted on social networks. June 2014 the group started to adopt new strategies closer to guerrilla warfare, after the return of the group's major leaders from Syria.
