At least 20 were killed and 36 injured Thursday in 3 coordinated attacks targeting army bases in Arish, North Sinai, according to State Television. A car bomb was detonated outside the headquarters of the 101 brigade of the Egyptian army in Arish, leaving 30 soldiers injured, according to Sky News Arabia. "Several rockets were fired at the North Sinai security directorate and there is damage to it and areas around it," interior ministry spokesman Hani Abdel Latif said. The offices of state-owned newspaper al-Ahram in North Sinai have been stormed and completely destroyed by masked gunmen. No causalities have been reported, according to Reuters. Two further blasts targeting army checkpoints have also been reported, few information on the causalities have emerged as of yet. Several police stations, along with urban communities were attacked by mortar shells across Arish city, no official reports on the number of casualties have been issued. Three army convoys were attacked by mortar shells in Sheikh Zuweid, Rafah, and south Rafah, leaving at least 2 officers severely wounded, and soldiers killed after fierce gunfire exchange with assailants. Gunmen reportedly attacked a military checkpoint in Rafah, near the site of the buffer zone with Gaza strip. The injured were rushed to Arish hospital for medical aid, large numbers of Special Forces and Thunderbolt forces were deployed to the attacked locations, all roads leading into North Sinai have been shut down and power has been cut off as military Apache helicopters are now scanning the city for the perpetrators. The attacks on the city of Arish are the deadliest since the brutal attack on Karm Al Kwadis military check point in Sheikh Zuweid October 24th, 2014, which left 31 soldiers killed.
