♥ September is Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Month, the way October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, across the world. The Breast Cancer Foundation of Egypt (BCFE) considers this an opportunity to raise awareness of cancers that affect women's health in Egypt. Hence, BCFE, under the leadership of Dr Mohamed Shaalan, is organising several events to spread knowledge, encourage women to have tests and showing support for women with cancer. This year, the BCFE is honouring every woman courageously facing cancer through its events. These events also represent a celebration of survivors for overcoming the disease and giving hope and strength to those who are still battling cancer.
Shaalan stated, “BCFE is holding several events this year that combine fun with awareness, as they will focus on women's cancers in general, and breast cancer specifically. Everyone can join the fight by spreading knowledge about the disease, encouraging their loved ones to get screened and donating to help underprivileged women find screening facilities and proper treatment.”
This year BCFE is celebrating October a little earlier with the Third Party for the Cure (Zumba), on 28 September. One step makes a world of difference: people around the world, from the United States to Saudi Arabia, from Russia and Peru to South Korea, are joining in the first ever international rally, “Globe-athon”. Participants in over 80 countries will make history by walking in solidarity with each other and with millions of women and families affected by cancer. Globe-athon is an unprecedented, international call-to-action that will shine a light on these women's cancers. BCFE is participating with Pink Party for the Cure. After the great success of the first and second Pink Party for the Cure, Zumba local instructors are coming together to hold this Pink Party for the third time in a row. The Pink Party for the Cure is a great and fun way to support the fight against women's cancers, raise funds and stay fit.
Zumba enthusiast and local instructor Emeline says, “It is very important for us to educate women as much as we can and help where we can. I don't think there is anything wrong with us all having fun at the same time!” The ladies-only event hosted by the Marriott Hotel in Zamalek (9am-3pm) will also include raffles and an interactive awareness session, Walk & Run, organising a walk and run in collaboration with Cairo Runners to end women's cancers. The event (4pm-8pm) will also include a horse jumping show and live music performance at the Equestrian Club in Zamalek.
