, former head of the General Egyptian Book Organisation (GEBO), was sacked by Egypt's new Culture Minister Alaa Abdel-Aziz last week without explanation, much to the outrage of intellectuals and writers. Megahed and Abdel-Aziz had quarrelled only hours after Abdel-Aziz took office. The minister decided to change the name of one of the GEBO's most popular book series, Maktabat Al-Osra (The Family's Library) to The Revolution's Library. The minister neither consulted nor informed Megahed before taking the decision.
