Mohamed Nagi Gedo and Ahmed Al-Mohamadi could not continue their brilliant run of form with Hull City as they were well beaten by Crystal Palace this week. The game ended in a 4-2 defeat for our in-form Egyptian stars and their team. Gedo and Al-Mohamadi paled the full game as the latter assisted the first goal with another great cross that was headed home by Jay Simpson. The game saw our other Egyptian starter Ahmed Fathi featuring for the first time in three games, coming on in the 68th minute. Fathi came on after his team were 3-0 down and had a very good game in his time on the pitch as he battled hard and showed great determination alongside his fellow Egyptians. Fans favourite Gedo couldn't score in this game as his teammates were off form and did not supply him with any chances to score. Hull City manager Steve Bruce lamented his side's performance after the game as they were totally outplayed by the promotion chasers Crystal Palace and that they deserved to lose the game but vowed to return to winning ways in the upcoming game against Burnley away from home. Hull City who were in fourth place before their game against Burnley can move to second place if they manage to claim all three points which can be realised with the help of our three Egyptian stars who can guide their team to a much needed victory. Elsewhere in England, Adam Al-Abd's Brighton amazing run of form ended this week as they played two games away from home with the first coming against Bristol City and the second against Bolton Wanderers. The first game which ended in a 0-0 draw saw Al-Abd and fellow defenders record their fourth clean sheet in the last five games but unfortunately their strikers weren't ruthless in front of goal as they squandered too many chances to win the game. In the second game they faced a more difficult opponent against a very well organised Bolton side that managed to snatch all three points after winning by a single goal. Once again Al-Abd played a wonderful game in defence but could not prevent his team from conceding the only goal of the game. Brighton drops to seventh in the league after these two games. Moving to Switzerland, Mohamed Salah was the star of this week's Egyptians overseas as he helped his team beat Russian giants Zenit 2-0 at home in the Europa League by assisting both goals in the first to two games played by Basel during the week. Both goals were scored in the last 10 minutes as the first came after a great run by Salah who curled the ball towards the far corner but the keeper blocked it only to find Diaz slotting it back into the net. Ten minutes later, Salah who squandered two easy chances in the 87th and 88th minutes was brought down in the box by Luis Neto resulting in a penalty for the home side and a red card for Neto who was shown his second yellow card of the game. While Salah played the full game, his Egyptian compatriot Al-Nenni came on in the 70th minute and played tremendously well and nearly scored a goal with a very good shot which the keeper saved. Basel's second game of the week came in the league against a very strong Young Boys side at home. The game ended in a 3-0 win for Basel as both Salah and Al-Nenni started the game on the bench and came on in the 74th minute when their team was two goals up. Our young Egyptian stars had a decent cameo as they showed glimpses of their undoubted talent in their short stint on the pitch as the game was already over. The win meant Basel stayed second as league leaders Grasshopper won their game. In Belgium, Hani Ramzi's Lierse managed to avoid relegation as they won their most important game of the season when they defeated Kortrijk by a single goal to ensure they'll be staying in the Jupiler league or division next season. Ramzi started the game with four Egyptian stars in the form of Ahmed Said Okka, Mustafa Shebeta, Mohamed Al-Gabbas and Ahmed Abu Mosalam who assisted his side's only goal of the game. The win meant Lierse will definitely finish the season in 14th place regardless of the result of their last game. Moreover, they will be taking part in the playoffs of the Europa League as the Belgian system gives all the teams apart from those relegated he chance to play in Europe by competing against each other in the playoffs. Ramzi and his Egyptian starts will certainly be delighted after ensuring they escaped relegation. In Italy, Ahmed Hegazi's Fiorentina managed to stun Lazio as they defeated them 2-0 away from home. The home side was expected to claim all three points as they're known to be a very hard team to beat at home but Hegazi's teammates were up to the game and did more than enough throughout the whole game to leave with a win. Hegazi will start light training next week according to the club doctor. The win meant Lazio stayed in sixth place in the league table. In the UAE, Mohamed Abu Treika's absence continued as Banni Yas drew at home against El Wahda by one goal each. It was expected that Abu Treika will recover in time to take some part in this game but scans showed that his hamstring injury is worse than what the doctors thought. and he could be out for possibly another two weeks. In Treika's absence it has been obvious that Banni Yas lacks creativity in the final third which was echoed by the team's manager after the draw. The draw meant Banni Yas stayed second.
