Egypt national team coach Bob Bradley on Wednesday selected ten internationally-based players to take part in the Pharaohs' upcoming Georgia friendly slated for 14 November. In a surprise move, Bradley asked Former Zamalek and Ahly striker Sherif Ashraf to join the national team for the first time after his recent outstanding performances that saved Finnish club Jaro from relegation to the second division. The other nine players selected were: Essam El-Hadary (Merreikh), Ahmed Elmohamady (Hull City), Ahmed Said Okka (Lierse), Adam El Abd (Brighton), Hosni Abd-Rabou (Al Nasr), Ahmed Hegazy (Fiorentina), Shikabala (Al Wasl), Mohamed Salah (Basel) and Amr Zaki (Elazigspor). Russia, Ivory Coast prepare Pharaohs for World Cup Within the context of preparations for 2014 World Cup qualifiers, Egypt will play two friendly matches against Russia and the Ivory Coast on 6 and 9 February respectively. "Bradley has accepted an offer to play two friendly games against Russia and Ivory Coast," Egypt's assistant coach Diaa El-Sayed told Ahram Sport on Wednesday. "We're eager to play friendly matches as much as we can to prepare ourselves, especially as all domestic football activities have been halted since the Port Said disaster," he said, referring to the February tragedy that saw over 70 football supporters killed in post-match clashes between rival fan clubs. The winners of three successive African Cup of Nations trophies, Egypt recently held a training camp in the UAE, during which they beat Congo 3-0 and lost against Tunisia 1-0 in two friendly matches. Egypt will not see any competitive games until March of next year, when they will host Zimbabwe for a World Cup qualifier.
