Morsi's spokesman says presidential team figures will be announced Thursday, while the newspaper of the Muslim Brotherhood's the Freedom and Justice Party says some of the name might be announced Saturday Presidential spokesman Yasser Ali said Saturday that names in the anticipated presidential team will be announced Thursday, the same day that shall see the official announcement of the new cabinet. As part of his election platform, Morsi vowed to form a presidential team composed of several public figures from across the political spectrum and representatives of the factions of the Egyptian society. Ali explained that the delay in announcing the presidential team was due to prolonged deliberations with the aim to come up with the most eligible assortment of public figures for the job. He denied to journalists that it was delayed because some turned down the position for the consultative body to the president. The Muslim Brotherhood had fielded Morsi as their candidate through their political arm, the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP). Considering that the parliament was already dominated by Brotherhood members, many were afraid of a Brotherhood monopoly on governance; therefore Morsi promised to set up the consultative presidential team. Although makeup of the presidential team is to be officially announced on Thursday, the FJP's official newspaper quoted an anonymous source in the presidential office saying that some names from the presidential teams would be announced Saturday. The source said some of those expected to be announced include FJP senior figure Essam El-Erian, Islamist scholar and ex-presidential candidate, Mohamed Selim El-Awa, leftist activist Wael Khalil and political science professor Pakinam El-Sharqawi.
