Egypt national football team coach Hossam El-badry has called up five foreign-based players for the 2022 African Cup of Nations qualifiers. The Pharaohs will host Togo in the 3rd round of the 2022 African Cup of Nations qualifiers on 14 November, with the two sides scheduled to meet again in the 4th round on the 17th of the same month. Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny was called up for the Pharaohs' coming camp after missing the last squad. "Elneny will take part in Egypt's national team preparatory camp for the two games against Togo in the African qualifiers," El-Badry said. According to a statement by the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) Thursday, star winger Mohamed Salah of Liverpool was called up for the coming camp alongside West Bromwich's defender Ahmed Hegazi, winger Mahmoud 'Trezeguet' Hassan of Aston Villa, Arsenal's midfielder Mohamed Elneny, and striker Ahmed 'Kouka' Hassan of Olympiacos FC. "We sent official letters to the teams of our foreign-based players to be ready for joining the training camp starting on 9 November until 17 of the same month," Egypt national team director Mohamed Barakat said. "The technical staff will wait until the finish of the official competitions to announce the domestic squad," Barakat said. Under the guidance of El-Badry, Egypt were held to draws by minnows Kenya and Comoros in their opening qualifying games for the next Africa Cup of Nations last year. Egypt, record seven-time African champions, are due to continue their campaign in the Nations Cup qualifiers, but the final dates of the remaining matches haven't been set yet.
