Hamas prisoners protest Fatah torture
Hamas announces that several of its detainees in PA prisons are going on a hunger strike to protest torture
Published in Ahram Online on 02 - 12 - 2010

Several Hamas members detained in Palestinian Authority (PA) prisons declared a hunger strike objecting to the torture they are facing, said Hamas on Thursday.
Sami Abu Zohry, Hamas spokesperson, revealed at a press conference held in Gaza that Hamas members in Haifa prison are being subjected to illegal torture and violent interrogations. He accused PA forces, in collaboration with Israeli occupation forces, of arresting 154 of Hamas's members, raising the total number of prisoners to 2822 since the beginning of this year.
Abu Zohry added that the crimes committed by the PA are unethical and Fatah will be held accountable for any associated consequences. Moreover, he added that Fatah's crimes prove their complete cooperation with the occupation forces and that efforts need to be exerted to expose such collaboration.
Hamas and Fatah have been exchanging accusations of arrests since Hamas' control of the Gaza strip.
