The Egyptian community in France has demanded the right to vote in Egypt's upcoming presidential elections. In a meeting of the Egyptian Community Federation in the city of Nice, Egyptian expats also demanded the right for Egyptians with dual nationality to run for office, so that overseasEgyptians could be represented in parliament. Participants further demanded that the defence ministry opens offices overseas so that Egyptians abroad can take procedures necessary to postponing conscription. They also asked that the interior ministry makes it easier for Egyptians abroad to acquire their national ID cards through Egyptian embassies. The group also asked the Egyptian government to create a new ministry focused on serving Egyptians who live overseas. The meeting was attended by Egyptians living throughout France, including Paris, Nice, Marseilles, Monaco and other cities in both north and south France.
