Published in The Egyptian Gazette on 20 - 07 - 2018

CAIRO, July 20, 2018 (MENA) – Egyptian Trade and Industry Minister Amr Nassar stressed the importance of the Egyptian-Ugandan business council in boosting trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.
Nassar's call came during a meeting with a number of African trade and industry ministers participating in the 20th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) that concluded in Lusaka, Zambia on Thursday, the Trade and Industry Ministry said in a statement on Friday.
During a meeting with Ugandan Trade and Industry Minister Amelia Kyambadde, Nassar discussed the future of commercial, industrial and investment cooperation between the two countries and a number of economic files of common concern, the statement added.
The meeting touched on the outcome of Egyptian-Ugandan committee's meeting that recently convened in Cairo and the remarkable visit paid by Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to Egypt in May, it said.
During the Ugandan leader's visit, Cairo and Kampala had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the field of industrial zones' management, the statement read.
Moreover, the Egyptian industry minister held a number of meetings with his Zambian, Tunisian and Malawian counterparts, the statement said.
Nassar reviewed with the three African ministers means of moving forward trade ties and encouraging joint manufacturing between Egypt and African states.
They also mulled partnerships between Egyptian businessmen and their African peers, which in turn could contribute to fostering economic relations between Egypt and the COMESA member states, the statement concluded.
The talks also took up the possibility for dispatching trade and investment missions to a number of African nations in the coming period.
