A 42-year-old Gazan woman was in critical condition on Wednesday after being shot by Israeli troops near the border in central Gaza, Palestinian medical sources said. The incident occurred in an area east of the central town of Deir al-Balah. "She was shot by several bullets, one of which hit her in the chest," said Ashraf al-Qudra, spokesman for the Hamas-run ministry of health. "She is in critical condition." An Israeli military source confirmed that troops fired warning shots into the air in the area during the early morning, but were not aware that anyone was hit.
