Despite the Egyptian Bar Association's call for a general strike, the North Criminal Court will resume Saturday the trial of 227 defendants over six murder charges, including the killing of an April 6 movement member, Youm7 reported. The incident dates back to January 2014 during the 3rd commemoration of the Jan.25 Revolt, when assailants attacked a peaceful protest in front of the Journalists' Syndicate. The prosecution accused the defendants of murder, crowding, committing violence, damaging public properties and disturbing the public peace. Meanwhile, Cairo criminal Court will resume the trial of Mohamed Al Zawahri, Al Qaeda leader Ayman Al Zawahri's brother, and 67 co-defendants in the case publicly known as "Al Zawahri cell", Al Bawaba News reported. The defendants face charges of forming a terrorist group affiliated with Al Qaeda, assaulting policemen, civilians and public property as well as endangering the safety and unity of the society.
