Egyptian army thwarted Friday a terrorist attempt to blow up an improvised explosive device (IED) targeting military sites in Sheikh Zuweid, North Sinai, Al Bawaba News reported. Security sources revealed that the army succeeded to locate the IED which was planted in a hole near Karam Al Kawadis village, south of Sheikh Zuweid. Since September 2013, the Egyptian army has been carrying out an ongoing military campaign against Wilayat Sinai, formerly known as Ansar Bayt Al Maqdis, after it had claimed responsibility for several attacks targeting Egyptian military and police personnel.
