Egyptian armed forces killed 11 elements of Wilayet Sinai terrorist group Thursday in intensive air strikes targeting the hotbeds of the terrorist group in Sheikh Zweid city, North Sinai. Security source, asked to remain anonymous, said that the army conducted the attack on a house allegedly owned by a leading militant of the terrorist group by Apache warplanes, at the village of al-Lafitat, south Sheikh Zweid. On the other hand, at least 20 other militants were captured during a wide military ground operation carried out by the army in the same region. Since September 2013, the Egyptian army has been carrying out an ongoing military campaign against the Sinai-based Wilayat Sinai terrorist group, formerly known as Ansar Bayt Al Maqdis, after it had claimed responsibility for several attacks targeting Egyptian military and police personnel. The last terrorist attack was held in Al Arish, and left dozens killed and hundreds injured, on January 29.
