Egyptian military air strikes killed eight alleged militants and injured dozens belonging to Wilayet Sinai (Province of Sinai) in southern of Sheikh Zuweid on Monday. Apache helicopters targeted two houses in Aljamie area in North Sinai where two terrorist cells were believed planning for future attacks on security forces. Since the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi, the Sinai Peninsula witnessed several terrorist attacks claiming lives of scores of security forces and civilians. Wilayet Sinai, which has pledged allegiance to the Islamic state (ISIS), claimed responsibility for most of the terrorist attacks including the recent bombings of Arish battalion that killed more than 30 soldiers in late January.
