QENA, Egypt: The Second Ganoub al-Wadi University Book Fair was inaugurated by the governor of Qena, Adel Labib, and University president Abbas Mansour. The fair is being held from Nov. 25 to Dec. 5 at the University's Roman Theater. The governor praised the university as a beacon of science and enriching the governorate's cultural and social life. The coming period needs concerted efforts to place Egypt among advanced states, he said. The university aims to activate cultural activities to help students shape a profound political and cultural vision, according to Mansour. In cooperation with the Supreme Council of Culture and the General Authority of Books the books' prices were discounted by 50 percent.
