Demonstrators across Egypt demonstrated in support of demonstrators in Cairo's Tahrir Square Friday, calling for a transition from military to civilian rule and condemning police violence. Marches kicked off from mosques in cities in Sharqia governorate after Friday prayers to condemn clashes in Tahrir Square. Participants called for a stop to violence against demonstrators and for the right to peacefully protest. They called on the military council to return to their original responsibility, in order to maintain their prestige and hand over power to a civilian authority. In Zagazig, participants in a march beginning at Fatah mosque cheered against Field Marshal. The march included more than a thousand youth from Nasr mosque in Faqous condemning the violence against demonstrators in Tahrir Square. In Beni Suef, hundreds of members of Revolution Youth Coalition, the April 6 Youth Movement, and other political forces organized a protest outside Omar Ibn Abdel Aziz mosque in solidarity with the million-man demonstration in Tahrir Square. In Minya, Central Security Forces clashed with men outside Bandar Malowy after men stepped between demonstrators and threw stones at police. The clashes escalated, leading to the closure of shops and malls due to tear gas used to disperse the demonstrators. More than 15 were injured with due to the gas. The April 6 Youth Movement and the January 25 Movement denied their participation in these demonstrations, saying they only called for a demonstration in Oss Square. In Kafr el-Sheikh, demonstrators and movements organized a protest announcing their solidarity with demonstrations in Tahrir Square and condemned violence against demonstrators. In Alexandria, the Egypt Revolution Party released a statement calling all Egyptians to support demonstrators in Tahrir Square and condemn the violence against them. The statement rejected the appointment of Kamal el-Ganzouri as Prime Minister, saying Egypt needs new thought in the coming period. Arabic here Arabic here
