Egyptian presidential candidate Abdel Moneim Aboul Fotouh refused to participate in a meeting between political figures and leaders of ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, said Ali al-Bahnasawy, the director of Aboul Fotouh's electoral campaign Tuesday. He added that Aboul Fotouh protested the excessive force used by security forces against the peaceful demonstrators, adding that the youth of Tahrir Square should participate in the current negotiations. Bahnsawy told Youm7 that the potential presidential candidate would participate in a million-man demonstration Tuesday, adding that he would provide the injured with medical aid. “Aboul Fotouh for President” expressed its support for the right of people to strike, and called for participation in demonstrations. The campaign also criticized the military council for the current insecurity, poor economic conditions, and for neglecting demands raised by the people during the January 25 Revolution including freedom, democracy, and social justice. They also demanded punishing those who were involved in the killing of peaceful demonstrators, forming a transitional government with the full authority to complete the transitional period, releasing political prisoners, retrying those who were prosecuted militarily, and restructuring the security forces.
