The Egyptian stock market closed down on the week after a short trading week due to the Eid al-Adha holiday. Egypt's main stock index, the EGX 30, fell by 0.92 percent on the week, closing at 4,383 points. The medium and small companies' index, the EGX70, declined 1.57 percent. The EGX 100 decreased 1.39 percent while the EGX 20 fell by 0.85 percent. Transactions were valued at 1.1 billion EGP (U.S. $184.5 million), down from last week's 1.6 billion EGP (U.S. $268.5 million) in transactions. Egyptian investors were responsible for 65.95 percent of transactions over the past week. Foreign transactions made up 27.31 percent of trades, while Arab investors made up 6.74 percent of trades.
