CAIRO: Dozens of Egyptian protestors from various political movements today descended on Talaat Harb Street in Cairo at noon to launch a march titled, “No For Military Trials.” The march is to the Supreme Court building where the protestors will demand the release of detained political activist Alaa Abdul Fatah. Protestors chanted, “We Want a Civil State, Not Military Trials,” “Lock Up The Revolutionaries, But Your Turn Is Coming Shameful Council,” and “Down to the Ruling Council.” The demonstrators also distributed publications and leaflets denouncing the ruling military council, led by chief of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, and demanded that the military leaders deliver authority to a civil power. “The military council must immediately stop military trials and release all political activits,” said Omar al-Masri, one of the march organizers. “The protestors chose the Supreme Court building to send the military council a message that this is the place where civilians must be tried,” he added.
