Egyptian Minister of Transport Ali Zain al-Abidin Heikal today decided to launch a legal committee charged with investigating the possibility of compensating victims of the incident onboard the Bella ferry. Such a ministerial committee will hold a meeting at the end of the week, where representatives from the Red Sea ports and the Arab Bridge maritime, which owns the Bella, will be in attendance, according to ministry sources. The minister emphasized that compensation should be immediately paid to the passengers, the source continued. The Bella ferry sank on Monday en route from Aqaba in Jordan to Nuweiba in Egypt after catching fire.
