Potential presidential candidate Amr Moussa said he fears the results of Egypt's upcoming parliamentary elections may not be representative of the Egyptian people. Moussa said electoral conditions could usher many groups into parliament that do not represent the majority. In light of these concerns, Moses appealed to all Egyptians to vote in the upcoming elections, so that a parliament representative of all groups in Egypt can be formed. This parliament, he said, can create a new and just constitution that will act as a solid foundation for the new Egypt. Parliamentary elections for both houses of the Egyptian parliament are slated to begin November 28 and last through March 2012. Moussa's statements came during a meeting yesterday with a delegation of the leading families from Sohag governorate at Moussa's campaign headquarters in Dokki. Moussa criticized the management of the post-revolution transitional period which seemingly will not lead to presidential elections until 2013. Moussa said it is in everyone's best interests that presidential elections be held in mid-2012 and that the transitional period end as quickly as possible. The end of the transitional period will result in greater stability, said Moussa, which will directly affect the economy. “The country needs to rebuild itself through the creation of an economic plan and investments based on a schedule,” said Moussa. He added, “The transitional period and the lack of stability is preventing implementation of this plan, although Egypt has a strong potential market and a skilled labor force." Moses discussed several things with the Sohag delegation, focusing on problems of the governorate. He said Upper Egypt will play a large part in Egypt's development, as it is located on the Red Sea coast. Sohag has all the necessary components for the advancement of agricultural, industrial and tourism projects, which will provide new job opportunities for millions of Egyptian young people suffering from unemployment, he added. Moussa said the new Egypt requires decentralized decision-making, to allow each governorate to create the budget necessary to complete its projects. He said the structure of the country should change in accordance with the people's aspirations. Moussa said Upper Egypt represent half of Egypt, and that there is great potential for reclamation of desert lands and the establishment of new projects.
