CAIRO: Amr Hamzawy, prominent academic and chair of the Egypt Freedom Party, said Egypt's upcoming parliamentary elections are an important phase. He said the elections could bring Egypt close to a civil state or create greater divides in Egypt's political scene. In a statement on his Twitter account he also said that everyone should realize that the Egyptian army is no longer a judge between Egypt's different parties, but rather has become a participant in Egypt's political conflicts. Hamzawy said a civil state is balanced between religion and politics without any escalation to the horrific violations Egypt has seen.
