Cairo's Tahrir Square was calm Saturday, after military police forcibly broke-up a sit-in of 100 protesters by removing their tents. Security forces controlled the square's entrances and the exits, and more than 20 security vehicles were present. Dozens of dispersed protesters gathered on Talaat Harb Street chanting slogans against the Ministry of Interior. Security forces surrounded demonstrators in order to prevent their return to Tahrir. The deputy governor of Cairo, General Seif al-Islam, said that he respects the protesters and their right to protest, but they should not vandalize state facilities.
