Arabic: الحزب المصري الديمقراطي الاجتماع Political party, Liberal Established: 2011 Key members: Mohamed Aboul Ghar, Mervat Tallawy, Amr Hamzawy (former member) The Egyptian Social Democratic Party is a liberal party that was founded in the wake of Egypt's January 25 Revolution by merging two old parties together, the Liberal Egyptian party and the Egyptian Democratic Party. The party was co-founded by Cairo University Political Science Professor and Carnegie Endowment for Peace senior researcher Amr Hamzawy, although he later left the party to help found another. The party emphasizes an economic approach that depends on more socialized institutional help for Egypt's citizens. It is based on human rights, civil, economic and social justice, and religious freedom. The party's slogan is “The voice of all Egypt.”
