Authorities at Cairo Airport strengthened security procedures for flights destined for New York and Europe on the anniversary of the September 11 attacks that took place in New York ten years ago Sunday. Security sources at the airport said that the procedures were taken as a precaution against attempts to take revenge for the death of Osama bin Laden, the late leader of Qaeda, who was killed on May 2 by an American special forces military unit in Pakistan. Extra security procedures were implemented for flights to Tel Aviv, after demonstrators stormed the Israeli Embassy in the early hours of Saturday morning.
