Tourism workers today launched a Facebook page calling for a boycott of Saudi Arabian Airlines to protest against the poor treatment suffered by returning Egyptian pilgrims, many of whom were both forced to stay in Jeddah for three or four days and lost luggage. Relatives of those stuck in the Jeddah Airport also filed a lawsuit against the Saudi airline. Nabil Mustafa, one of the pilgrims, said he and more than 1,200 Egyptian nationals were held in rooms too small to hold such numbers, were unable to call relatives in Egypt and were forced to beg for food when money ran out. “The Tourism Chamber will sue the Saudi airline company along with the families of the pilgrims,” said Alaa al-Ghamry, a member of the board of directors of the Tourist Companies Chamber. The Saudi company did not inform the pilgrims that planes had been cancelled and many Egyptian nationals were stuck in the Jeddah airport for three days, he added.
