Egyptian Sheikh Youssief Karadawi delivered ten messages to Egyptian people, the government, the military council and protestors today at Tahrir Square. Karadawi, not Sheikh Essam Talema, delivered the messages on the Muslim Brotherhood's stage. Karadawi asked the ruling military council to meet Egyptian's political demands according to the timeline laid out. Kardawi asked the council to pay pensions to the families of martyrs of the January 25 Revolution, to honor the martyrs themselves, to speed up the trials against officials charged with killing protestors and to pay for medical care for all those injured in the revolution. Kadadawi's first message addressed revolution forces, urging them to unify. The second message called on the revolution's youth asking them to preserve the soul of Tahrir Square and prevent attempts to tarnish the image of the Square. In his third message, Karadawi asked the Egyptian government to meet the demands of the revolution. Karadawi asked Egyptians, in his fourth message, to play a significant role in developing Egypt. Political forces must work for national interests rather than personal interests, Karadawi said in his fifth message. Karadawi's sixth message reminded the Al-Azhar institution of its role in supporting the revolution and following an approach of moderation. All movements, political forces and other groups in Egypt must end the accusations of treason and blasphemy, while asking for an end to exclusionary rhetoric, Karadawi urged. "Religion and Egypt do not belong to a particular category," he added. Karadawi also asked Egyptians to steer clear of foreign pressure and influence. The Muslim Brotherhood stage announced its appreciation for Chairman of the Supreme Council for the Armed Forces (SCAF) Hussein Tantawi, which irritated some political forces in Tahrir Square. Karadawi also congratulated Egyptians for the beginning of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month. Arabic here
