CAIRO: Presidential candidate and Secretary General of the Arab League Amr Moussa alluded to withdrawing from running in the coming presidential elections if the presidency was an honorable post and the state's affairs were run by the Prime Minister. He said the president of the country should have limited power and should be allowed to hold three presidential terms. His statements came while responding to a question regarding the possibility of Prime Minister Essam Sharaf running for the upcoming elections. Moussa said during a conference at al-Gazeera club that the Egyptian Vice President and Prime Minister should come from the youth, as he has faith in the youth. He said he examined more than 30 files of Egyptian cases whilst preparing his platform. Those cases included education in which history as a subject has been forged and false since Hosni Mubarak's regime. As for Egypt's international position, he criticized the loss of Egypt's prestige. The UN Security Council is accepting new members, and Egypt is not one of them, said Moussa. Regarding exporting gas to Israel, he said Egypt should use what it needs first and then export any surplus. Moussa said the Camp David convention should be respected by both Egypt and Israel. This, he said, does not mean that Egypt cannot still support the Palestinian and lifting the Israeli siege on the Gaza strip. Moussa renewed his call to postpone parliamentary elections so that they come after the presidential one.
