CAIRO: Ashes from the Eritrea volcano that erupted in the South of Egypt on Wednesday will significantly affect charter flights, and could paralyze aviation, said experts in tourism. Touristic visits to monumental places will not be affected by this, they added. There are a few clouds of volcanic ashes but this will not prevent tours in Abu Simbel, as tourists go to the temple by buses and not by planes, said director of the temple of Abu Simbel, Dr. Ahmed Saleh. The head of guides' organization, Abul-Magd, said that 80 percent of tourist movement from Hurghada to Luxor and Abu Simbel to Aswan rely on buses. Certain precautions, however, should be taken into consideration, said Abul-Magd.
