CAIRO: Egypt's Ministry of Antiquities is to issue an ultimatum to all universities that have antiquities or monuments registered in the Ministry, said Minister of Antiquities Zahi Hawass. Hawass' declaration came after the discovery of a theft at the Faculty of Islamic and Egyptian Archaeology's museum on Thursday. Hawass warned all universities that if they cannot provide complete security to the monuments registered to them, or if the monuments are found to be neglected, the monuments will be confiscated by the ministry. In related news, Egypt's general prosecution is inspecting the museum where the theft took place, and then the faculty's committee will check all antiquities, according to faculty archaeologist Mukhtar al-Kasbani Al-Kasbani said the committee will make an inventory of the museum's contents. According to the primary inspection, gold currency from the Islamic Museum was stolen.
