Arabic: محمد بديع Born: 1943 Association: Muslim Brotherhood Mohamed Badie is the eighth leader of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) organization. Badie is not a high-profile political figure, but prefers a less active role in politics. He became leader of the organization in 2010 after his predecessor's death. Badie is a part-time professor of veterinary pathology. Badie rejects the method of violence and believes in slow and gradual reforms. Badie was sent to jail in the 1960s for 9 years along with other members of the MB, including Sayyed Qutb, for suspicion of owning weapons. Such crackdowns of the Brotherhood have been common since its establishment in 1928.
