It had to be Alexandria for Abdullah Al-Saied's maiden goal as the Ahli summer signing scored the opener in the Reds' 2-0 victory over Ittihad. Al-Saied, who scored against Smouha and Ittihad in his previous two visits to Alexandria, netted his first goal for Ahli after 10 minutes at the Egyptian Army Stadium. Emad Meteb doubled the lead in the 68th minute to ensure that the week ends with the champions on top of the league table. It was the first ever league game to be staged on the Egyptian Army Stadium, due to security concerns. Ahli move to top with eight points, one ahead of Ismaili, who beat Dakhlia in Cairo. Back to the sweeper Ahli coach Manuel Jose reverted back to the 3-5-2 formation for the first time this season, with teenager Rami Rabiea leading the line in defense. The visitors got the start they wanted when Al-Saied fired home Meteb's layoff into the bottom corner of Al-Hani Soliman's net from 20 yards out. Ahli were then forced to take off the injured Mohamed Shawky and it was playmaker Walid Soliman who replaced Jose's primary defensive midfielder. Poor Ittihad While Ahli were anything but impressive after the break, Ittihad hardly capitalized as they almost failed to pose any threat on Sherif Ekrami's goal until being punished by a second goal. It was another blunder by goalkeeper Al-Hani Soliman after his attempted pass could only find Ahli namesake Walid Soliman, who threaded the ball to the clear-on-goal Meteb to slot home with ease. Both teams' fans had to put their touch as a contest of fireworks occurred in the stands in the second half.
