Zamalek have signed Palestinian goalkeeper Ramzi Saleh on a two-and-a-half year deal, the Cairo club said on Saturday. "Saleh has penned the deal tonight," Zamalek's interim chairman Galal Ibrahim told FilGoal.com. The 30-year-old will move to the White Knights after ending an unhappy spell with Sudanese giants Merreikh. He opted to leave Merreikh after they approached Zamalek's out-of-favor goalie Essam Al-Hadari, who should join them in the next few days. Saleh played for Zamalek's arch-rivals Ahli between 2008 and 2010 but barely made an impact, failing to fill the void left by the abrupt departure of Al-Hadari to Swiss side Sion. Zamalek sought to land a new custodian after Mohamed Abdul-Monsef, who used to play second-fiddle to regular shot-stopper Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed, joined Gouna in the close season. Saleh will act as understudy to Al-Sayed, who is Zamalek's undisputed number one keeper. He will be the White Knights' second signing for the January transfer window after Lierse SK right wing-back Ahmed Samir. Zamalek coach Hossam Hassan has also demanded that the club sign a new striker.
