Samir parts ways with Lierse
Published in FilGoal on 01 - 09 - 2010

Ahmed Samir has terminated his contract with Belgian side Lierse by mutual consent, few hours before the transfer deadline on Tuesday.
The Egyptian wing-back sat down with coach Aime Anthuenis before deciding to part company with the promoted outfit.
Samir, who wasn't named for any of Lierse's league matches this season, says he decided to leave the club because he wants to play regular first-team football.
"I'm now free to join any other club right away, I don't have to wait till the transfer window re-opens in January," he told FilGoal.com. "I want to play regularly elsewhere."
The 29-year-old has been nursing an ankle injury that somewhat diminished his chance to feature for Lierse.
Now Lierse, owned by businessmen Maged Sami, have only two Egyptian players at their disposal in Mohamed Abdul-Wahed and Mohamed Al-Gabbas.
Lierse, who secured their top-flight promotion last term, are yet to record their maiden Belgian Pro League win this season, having lost their first five matches.
Egypt Return?
Samir assured that a good number of Egyptian clubs had approached him of late, saying he would only return to Egypt should he fail to secure a worthwhile offer in Europe.
"Several clubs are interested in my services, including Zamalek, Ismaili, ENPPI and Petrojet," he said. "I want to stay in Europe but I might return to Egypt after all."
Samir kicked off his professional career at Baladeya and then switched to Zamalek, where he spent three years.
He also plied his trade at Harras Hodoud before moving to Belgium.
