Mido could not score his maiden goal for West Ham United as his side slumped to a 2-0 defeat by 10-man Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday. The Egyptian striker once again failed to sparkle after joining West Ham in January on loan until the end of the season. The 27-year-old, who spent the first half of the season on loan at Egyptian side Zamalek where he scored just one goal, was included in their starting line-up, partnering Guillermo Franco upfront. He was energetic in the early stages, moving down the left flank to whip in crosses. However, Mido could not really trouble Arsenal's defense until being substituted with Carlton Cole in the 75th minute. Brazilian midfielder Denilson put Arsenal ahead after five minutes following a neat exchange of passes Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen was sent off just before the break after bringing down Franco in the box. But despite their numerical disadvantage, the Gunners managed to double their advantage through a penalty from inspirational skipper Cesc Fabregas with seven minutes remaining. West Ham lie 17th in the 20-team league table with 27 points, just three above the relegation zone.
