Ahli's primary objective this season is to win the African Champions League, coach Hossam Al-Badri said on Thursday. The Red Devils open their campaign against Gunners of Zimbabwe in Harare on Saturday in the first-leg of the competition's round of 32. They are aiming to make amends for their disappointing exit last season at the hands of Nigerian side Kano Pillars in the preliminary rounds. "Winning the Champions League is our main objective," Al-Badri said on Ahli's official website. "Our match against Gunners should show how strong we are, so we have to play well and achieve a good result." Ahli, record six-time winners of the Champions League, have won Africa's premier club competition three times in the last five seasons. They will be looking to go further away from arch-rivals Zamalek, who won the title five times. "The experienced players should speak to the younger ones about the importance of this competition for Ahli," Al-Badri added. The Cairo giants are firm favorites to win a sixth successive Egyptian Premier League title. Leaders Ahli enjoy an eight-point lead over second-placed Petrojet with nine matches remaining.
