Egypt assistant coach Shawki Gharib blamed the 3-1 friendly defeat against England on fitness problems. The African champions went one up at Wembley but collapsed after the restart, allowing the hosts to seal the victory. "We ran a lot in the first-half and were able to snatch the opener," Gharib told a news conference after the game. "Physically, we couldn't keep up with England in the second-half." Left-back Sayed Moawad kept Theo Walcott at bay in the first-half but the Ahli man, who has just returned from injury, couldn't tame substitute Shaun Wright-Phillips. Wright-Phillips scored once and created two goals for fellow substitute Peter Crouch to lead England's revival. "England's substitutions made the difference tonight, and our defensive mistakes helped the opponents take control," Gharib added.
