Emirate tycoon Sulaiman Al-Fahim has decided to step down from his position as Portsmouth non-executive chairman, giving his 10% shareholding to the supporters' trust. Al-Fahim, who bought the Premiership club from Alexandre Gaydamak last summer, has been the club's non-executive chairman since relinquishing ownership to Ali Al-Farag later. But the 32-year-old Dubai businessman has now ended his Pompey spell. "This is a community club and should be owned by the fans and supporters," Al-Fahim told the Guardian. "They should be involved and have full transparency in their club. The supporters should have a say in it. And the club should be managed with financial transparency." The Premier League's bottom club seemed to be surprised by Al-Fahim's decision, amid the club's miserable financial situation. A club spokesperson said: "We have only heard from Sulaiman through the media and are surprised as only last week he was saying he wanted to buy the club again."
