West Ham striker Mido credited Zamalek coach Hossam Hassan for his fine displays in the English Premier League. The towering frontman spent the first half of the season on loan at Zamalek from English second-division side Middlesbrough. Although he scored just one goal with the Cairo giants, Mido was praised for his battling performances in the Egyptian league. He eventually joined West Ham on loan until the end of the season as he seeks to resurrect his career in Europe. "Hassan helped me a lot during my time with Zamalek," Mido told FilGoal.com on Saturday. "He helped me regain my fitness and self-confidence after a difficult period. Hassan knows how to psychologically deal with any player. "I have to thank him for what he did for me although he knew that I was going to leave Zamalek." Egypt's all-time leading scorer Hassan played alongside Mido with the Egyptian national team in the early 2000s. They were also part of the Pharaohs' 2006 African Cup of Nations winning squad. Mido made his debut with West Ham in their 2-1 defeat to Burnley last week when he came on as a second-half substitute. His form prompted coach Gianfranco Zola to include him in the team's starting line-up for the following game against Birmingham City. "I accepted to earn little money to re-make a name for myself in England," Mido, who reportedly earns £1,000 a week with the Hammers, added. "I received an offer from another Premier League club worth £40,000 per week but I rejected it because they are smaller than West Ham. They are also fighting against relegation."
